The Sinderhope Red Squirrel Group, this group is a loosely connected collection of people who live in and around the scattered community at Sinderhope. At present those living in the East Allen valley, but a little farther away in Allendale and in Allenheads, are also represented on this site.
We have all volunteered to help care for the red squirrel population which in the past has flourished in this area. This means looking out for the presence of invading grey squirrels, reporting their presence to me (Wendy Nicholson 01434 685 042) and, for some of us, feeding the reds which visit locally.
We are fortunate to have the help of local gamekeepers who are able to trap and/or shoot the invading greys.
